Use of Magnetic Nanoparticles as Targeted Therapy: Theranostic Approach to Treat and Diagnose Cancer

Figure 1

Schematic illustration of diagnosis by magnetic nanoparticles-guided cancer therapy. The recognition of tumor cells is conjugated with hyperthermic nanoparticles and inserted in vivo. In albino C57BL/6 mice, by intraperitoneal injection, our theranostic approach is able to recognize the accumulated nanoparticles at the tumor region causing significant infiltration of T-cells and macrophages creating angiogenesis process in the tumor cells causing a decline in tumor dimensions. The apoptotic rate is improved and optimal treatment is obtained in vivo in the albino rat model which is treated with MNPs through the mediation of illuminating agent.
