Development of Nanoenabled Platform for Application in Food Biotechnology

Call for Papers

Nanotechnology is a branch of science in which the size of the matter is a billionth of a meter. Nanoparticles offer some unique properties as they possess high surface area to volume ratio that makes them different as compared to their bulk counterparts. Researchers get fascinated with the integration of nanocomposites in developing antimicrobial agents and nanosensors in food quality. Nanocomposites have proven capabilities that are valuable in packaging foods, including improved barriers; mechanical, thermal, and biodegradable properties; and applications in active and intelligent food packaging. Convergence of nanotechnology in food industries explains the different potential applications of nanocomposites in food packaging. We introduce techniques for analyzing them. Further, we discuss the important concern that nanocomposites may potentially be hazardous materials, which would preclude their use in packaging food.

Potential topics include but are not limited to the following:

  • Preparation of nanocomposites for packaging of food materials
  • Analysis of nanocomposites and their application in food industries
  • Development of antimicrobial platform for application in food packaging
  • Preparation of nanocomposites for developing nanodevices for analysis of food components
  • Concerns associated with the use of nanomaterials in food industries
  • Nanotoxicology
