Chronic exposure to high glucose induces apoptosis in BRP. Subconfluent cells in 3 cm dishes were exposed to normal (NG, 5.6 mM) and high (HG, 25 mM) glucose in the absence (NG, HG) and presence of 500 M apocynin (NGA, HGA) or 1 M MitoQ (NGMQ and HGMQ). After 4 days, the cells were washed twice with ice-cold PBS, lysed and apoptosis was measured using colorimetric caspase-3 activity. Data are represented as Means SEM of 3–6 separate experiments. versus NG, versus HG.
