Effect of VCD-treatments versus controls on follicle type counts in mouse ovaries. Columns represent the mean total number of follicles counted in every 20th section (5- μm) of each ovary and error bars indicate the SEM for $n=11$ SHM and $n=23$ VCD-treated mice (S + V and SVG). Data from S + V and SVG groups were determined not to be significantly different from one another, based on a t test, and were pooled for comparison against SHM controls. ${}^{*}$ indicates significance ($P<.0001$) for SHM-versus VCD-treated mice for each follicle type using the Mann-Whitney test.
