Sensors in Biomedical Imaging

Call for Papers

Biomedical imaging is one of the most dynamically developing interdisciplinary areas. It combines computer science with sensors, electronics, and medicine. Biomedical imaging can be both static and (more often) dynamic. It involves both the need to work in real time and observation and analysis of time changes in a two-dimensional signal, which is a sequence of images from sensors. The systems include not only algorithms for image data analysis but also artificial intelligence methods and evaluation of their practical clinical usefulness with the use of sensors. Concurrently with this type of systems, measurement methods are developed that use systems to analyse and interpret data as well as to understand and verify practical applicability.

The specific topics include also topics from surface chemistry/bioengineering fields such as functionalization of sensors in a high-throughput format, multiscale detection formats, and development of biorecognition elements for high-throughput sensors.

Authors are encouraged to submit original and high-quality work that is not under consideration by or already appears in any journals or publication media. The peer review will be performed for all manuscript submissions according to the standards of the special issue.

Potential topics include but are not limited to the following:

  • Multiscale sensors and measures
  • Problems with the sensors for medical data analysis
  • Artificial intelligence in medical image analysis and special sensors
  • Theories and applications for biomedical imaging with the use of sensors
  • Different modality sensors, signal, and imaging processing including ultrasonic imaging, CT, and their integration of BTW, OCT, USG, THV, and so forth.
  • Chemical imaging based on laser desorption ionization and surface mediated ionization techniques

Authors can submit their manuscripts through the Manuscript Tracking System at

Submission DeadlineFriday, 30 March 2018
Publication DateAugust 2018

Papers are published upon acceptance, regardless of the Special Issue publication date.
