Interaction between Age, Sex, and Mental Health Status as Precipitating Factors for Symptom Presentation in Concussed Individuals

Total symptoms (a) and symptom severity (b) measured across each age group for male and female participants with a behavioural disorder. In the behavioural disorder groups, total symptoms and symptom severity showed similar, statistical trends with no main effects of age or sex. However, a significant interaction was revealed with females showing both more symptoms and greater symptom severity than males in the 13–15 age group (++, ) and males showing more symptoms and more severity than females in the 40+ group (++, ).
