Pediatric Cardiology in the Tropics and Subtropics

Call for Papers

This journal invites original research manuscripts, including meta-analysis and review articles describing the current state of the art practices, drug trials, new patents, validated new surgical or treatment methods, and case reports emanating from pediatric cardiology in the tropical and subtropical subregions of the world for possible publication in this special issue. Manuscripts which should be rendered in conformity with the journal format as presented in the website will be subjected to a peer-review process and if recommended and accepted by the Editorial Board will be published in the special issue subject to the terms and conditions of the journal.

Modern pediatric cardiology practices including services and related research activities evolved largely within the industrialized economies. The tropics, particularly Sub-Saharan Africa, on the other hand represent the geographic zones of the world where most of the resource-challenged countries are located.

Dissemination of reports of research work and practice experiences from low-income developing countries is limited. Indeed, dissemination of reports of their research work and practice experiences have not always found appropriate platforms, as the existing journals located in the industrialized economies often focus on issues unrelated to the tropical regions. It is hoped therefore that this special issue will serve the role of a very much needed platform for bringing global attention to many notable works in paediatric cardiology from the tropics and subtropics.

Potential topics include but are not limited to the following:

  • Congenital and acquired heart diseases including acute rheumatic fever and rheumatic heart diseases and cardiomyopathies in the tropics and subtropics
  • Development of paediatric cardiovascular healthcare services in the tropics and subtropics
  • Heart failure in childhood in the tropics and subtropics
  • Development of paediatric interventional cardiology services in the tropics and subtropics
  • Electrocardiography, echocardiography MRI CT-scanning, and angiocardiographic images studies in the tropics and subtropics
  • Microbiological, viral, immunological, and biochemical studies in the tropics and subtropics
