Photophysical Processes in Simple Molecules Excited by Synchrotron Radiation

Abstract

The elementary photophysical processes following the absorption of a VUV photon (above 10 eV) by an isolated molecule are described. Special emphasis is made on photoionization and photodissociation processes, on the basis of recent results obtained by different experimental methods associated to synchrotron radiation. Discussion is made within the frame of recent theories. Future trends are also mentioned in connection with new synchrotron sources. NaI222nmNaI*→Na*(32P)+I.
