Two modifications used to increase the inhibitory potency of steroids to G6PDH are indicated: reduction of the double bond between carbons 5 and 6 in dehydroepiandrosterone (DHEA) which leads to epiandrosterone (EA) and the bromination at position 16 which converts DHEA and EA into 16BrDHEA and 16BrEA, respectively.</table>
