Target Identification and Intervention Strategies against Kinetoplastid Protozoan Parasites

Description

Over the past few decades, there has been a tremendous progress in research on kinetoplastid protozoan parasites, some of which cause devastating diseases in mankind and livestocks. Recent advances in modern biology with reference to genome sequencing, computational biology, and structure-based molecular modeling have greatly facilitated drug design, drug delivery, and vaccine development to provide newer intervention strategies against these parasites. Trypanosoma and Leishmania causing trypanosomiasis and leishmaniasis have attracted considerable attention of the scientific community as the unusual biology of the parasites offers great challenges for investigation.

In this Call for Papers, we invite investigators to contribute original research articles as well as review articles covering the present status of research in the fields of their expertise. We are particularly interested in articles that describe molecular mechanism of parasite survival in the host, advances in therapeutic approaches, differential gene expression, and intervention strategies. Potential topics include, but are not restricted to:

  • Molecular biology and gene expression
  • Biology and biochemistry of kinetoplast DNA
  • Identification of targets for therapeutic development
  • Development of immunotherapeutics
  • Functional genomics and proteomics

Before submission authors should carefully read over the journal's Author Guidelines, which are located at http://www.hindawi.com/journals/mbi/guidelines/. Prospective authors should submit an electronic copy of their complete manuscript through the journal Manuscript Tracking System at http://mts.hindawi.com/ according to the following timetable:
