The Effects of Interleukin-1β in Tumor Necrosis Factor-α-Induced Acute Pulmonary Inflammation in Mice

Analysis of MIP-2 after TNF-α instillation. WT or IL-1β KO mice were OP instilled with either saline (50  L) or TNF-α (5  g/50  L/mouse). After 6 hours, serum, BALF, and lung homogenate were isolated and analyzed for ((a), (b), and (c)) MIP-2 and ((d), (e), and (f)) by ELISA. BALF and lung homogenate values are normalized to protein content measured by BCA. Results are mean ± SEM, (n = 8–15). * represents saline versus TNF-α-treatment of single strain or (brackets) for saline or cytokine-treated comparisons between strains.
