CHE induces apoptosis by a caspase-dependent mechanism. Cells (10 × 106 cells/mL) were incubated with (+) or without (−) CHE in the presence (+) or absence (−) of a given caspase inhibitor: z-VAD-FMK (pan-caspase), z-DQMD-FMK (caspase-3), z-VEID-FMK (caspase-6), or z-LEHD-FMK (caspase-9) for 22 h.
