PN increased the expression of claudin-5 after MCAO. The expression of claudin-5 was assessed by western blot ((a) and (b)) and reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction ((c) and (d)). Compared with MCAO group, the expression of claudin-5 was significantly increased in High group both at 24 h and 72 h, but increased only at 72 h in Low group ^⋆𝑃<0.05 versus MCAO group.
