ASO-mediated lowering of CRP in rats subjected to coronary artery ligation reduces infarct size. For hearts from the animals shown in Figure 2, percent infarcted region (area (a) or perimeter (b)) was calculated from picrosirius red-stained LV sections (see Materials and Methods). Rats were injected i.p. with either 0.9% saline or ASO 141923 at 150 mg/kg/wk) (controls, ), or an equivalent dose of the CRP targeting ASO ISIS 197178 . The asterisks indicate for unpaired t-tests.
