Cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) tau protein levels. The horizontal bar indicates the mean value of each group. CSF levels (mean ± SD) of tau protein in HHV-6 encephalopathy, HHV-6 complex febrile seizures (FS), and controls are  pg/mL,  pg/mL, and  pg/mL, respectively. Total tau protein levels in HHV-6 encephalopathy patients are significantly higher than in control subjects ().
