Spreading and phagocytosis assays by peritoneal cells obtained from BALB/c and BALB/xid mice after incubation with mS100A9p. (a) Peritoneal cells were adhered to coverslips (1 × 105 cells/well) and incubated with mS100A9p (1.17 or 2.35 M in RPMI-1640 medium), for 1 h at 37°C in 5% CO2. Control adherent cells were incubated only with culture medium. (b) After spreading, cells were incubated with 1 × 106 Candida albicans particles for 1 h. Results are expressed as means ± SD, using six animals per group. ≤ 0.05, when compared to the respective control group (RPMI).
