Inhibition of Macrophage Functions by the C-Terminus of Murine S100A9 Is Dependent on B-1 Cells

Spreading and phagocytosis assays by bone marrow-derived macrophages (BMDM) after incubation with mS100A9p. (a) BMDM adhered to coverslips (1 × 105 cells/well) were incubated with mS100A9p (0.59; 1.17; or 2.35 M in RPMI-1640 medium), for 1 h at 37°C in 5% CO2. Phospholipase A2 (PLA2: 0.85; 1.78; 3.57 M), in the same conditions of peptide, was used as positive control. BMDM controls were incubated only with culture medium. (b) After spreading, BMDM were incubated with 1 × 106 Candida albicans particles for 1 h. Results are expressed as means ± SD, using five samples per group. ≤ 0.05, when compared to the control group (RPMI).
