Ouabain Modulates Zymosan-Induced Peritonitis in Mice

Effect of ouabain on peritoneal leukocytes viability. Viability of the leukocytes present in peritoneal lavage was assessed by flow cytometry. For that, cells obtained by peritoneal lavage were stained with Annexin V and propidium iodide in order to evaluate the percentage of cells undergoing apoptosis and necrosis, respectively. (a) Representative dot plots showing the percentage of cells undergoing initial apoptosis (Annexin V+), late-apoptosis (Annexin V+ and PI+), and necrosis (PI+). (b) Data were expressed as mean ± SEM and analyzed by Graphpad Prism using ANOVA with Tukey’s posttest, where all groups were compared. Results were obtained from 6 animals per group. and versus PBS group.
