All odds ratios (ORs) were calculated using conditional logistic regression, stratified for the case-sets. For MetS, odds ratios (ORs) were adjusted for smoking status and education level. For protein models, ORs are adjusted for smoking status and education level. ORs adjusted are additionally adjusted for the MetS score.
