5-HT Drives Mortality in Sepsis Induced by Cecal Ligation and Puncture in Mice

Lack of 5-HT alleviates histopathology damage and organ dysfunction in the liver in CLP-induced sepsis in mice. The animal blood samples and liver tissues were harvested at 6 h or 24 h after the CLP administration. H&E staining was conducted as described above. In the liver, the WT mice showed a marked congestion, inflammatory cell infiltration, necrosis, and degeneration. The KO-CLP mice had alleviated histopathological changes. ALT was calculated as an assessment of liver dysfunction (, ALT: mean ± SD, versus the WT-CLP group at 24 h after the CLP administration).
