Functional enrichment analysis of inflammatory DEGs in SALS patients. (a) Representation of the top 20 most significantly enriched ( value < 0.05) canonical pathway maps associated with the neuroinflammatory DEGs genes in both SALS patient subgroups when compared to controls. A histogram of statistical significance (−log value) is shown: the list is arranged in descending order with the most significant pathways at the top. The analysis was performed using the MetaCore pathway analysis suite. (b) The heat map from IPA of canonical signaling pathways (rows) most significantly enriched in neuroinflammatory genes is differentially expressed in the two SALS patient subgroups (columns). The score magnitudes are shown in a gradient color, from light to bright orange, for induced, and from light to bright blue, for suppressed pathway activity.
