Calophyllum brasiliense Modulates the Immune Response and Promotes Leishmania amazonensis Intracellular Death

Figure 1

Leishmanicidal activity of Calophyllum brasiliense: 5 × 105 macrophages/mL on glass coverslips were (a) infected with L. (L.) amazonensis promastigotes (6 parasites per macrophage) during 3 h and treated with hydroalcoholic extract of C. brasiliense (30 μg/mL) and infection index was obtained after 3 and 24 h of treatment. (b) Cultures were treated with C. brasiliense alcoholic extract (30 μg/mL) for 3 h then they were infected with L. (L.) amazonensis, and the infection index was obtained after 3 and 24 hours. Macrophages infected with L. (L.) amazonensis and without treatment were controls. compared to controls.
