Recent Trends in Statistical Methodologies within Communications and Systems Engineering

Call for Papers

A large class of decision modelling and inferential aspects in communications and systems engineering is modelled as statistical research problems. The development of novel frameworks within a statistical paradigm which yield innovative methodologies or faster algorithms than those currently available is continuously of interest amongst wireless systems engineering researchers, as well as practitioners within the industrial systems and design arena. The need to understand, analyze, predict, and make decisions based on massive data, often presented with complex structures, highlights the use of such methodologies to effectively support decision-making processes in the current data-driven era. The value-added proposition of this focus on statistical methodology within not only communications and systems engineering but also the broader engineering discipline is uncontested: the necessity of it is in understanding algorithms, the value of attainable research outcomes and practical implementation, and the consequent decisions for further research endeavors. Therefore, this special issue aims to stimulate and unify emerging trends that are modelled via statistical methodology in the communications and systems engineering environment.

This special issue aims to contribute to statistical research topics that pursue valuable and challenging engineering methodologies. We invite manuscript submissions on the state-of-the-art or on innovative methodologies and algorithms on topics which are of relevance to the modern-day era within the communications and systems engineering domain/field. Furthermore, we encourage submissions including computational modules and packages in any programming language which enables reproduction and implementation of the results.

Submissions within the following statistical foci and relevant to communications and systems engineering will be of particular interest to this special issue.

Potential topics include but are not limited to the following:

  • New contributions to statistical and predictive inference (classical and Bayesian approaches)
  • Advances in statistical distribution theory with practical motivation within communications and systems engineering
  • Stochastic models and high dimensional statistics within decision modelling and engineering practice

Authors can submit their manuscripts through the Manuscript Tracking System at https://mts.hindawi.com/submit/journals/mpe/asom/.
