Modeling, Planning, and Control of Complex Logistic Processes
Description
This special issue deals with the complexities in mathematical and numerical modeling, planning, and control of logistics processes. Complex logistic processes or supply chains are considered the most important activities in the modern economy and societies, and they are subject to many disturbing effects such as rapid shifts in customer demand, changes on orders, transport congestions, communications, and machine failures. Obviously, their complexity becomes more difficult by an increase in the set of facilities linked by transportation services. There are many different technologies emerging to help improve complex logistics supply chains as well, for example, sensor networks, mass data management, or decentralized control.
This special issue targets researchers actively working in logistic process and supply chains to provide an up-to-date overview of the research directions and advance methods in the field. Of particular interest, the papers in this special issue are devoted to the development of mathematical methodologies for modeling, optimization, and control of complex logistics networks. Potential topics include, but are not limited to:
- Intelligence techniques, such as fuzzy logic and neural network approaches
- Intelligent production and logistics systems
- Effects of uncertainty in production networks
- Mathematical modeling, robustness, and stochastic optimization of complex logistic processes
- Interrelation of demand forecasting and production planning
- Decentralized control of logistic processes in production and distribution networks
- Applications in complex logistics system
