Mathematical Methods Applied to Digital Image Processing
Description
Digital image processing is an important research area since it spans a variety of applications. Although over the past few decades there has been a rapid rise in this field, there still remain issues to address. Examples include image coding, image transmission over wireless networks, 3D image processing, feature extraction and analysis, image retrieval, motion detection, display systems, biomedical/neural imaging and analysis, and others. To deal with these issues, the use of sophisticated and robust mathematical algorithms plays a crucial role. The aim of this special issue is to provide an opportunity for researchers and engineers to publish their latest theoretical and technological achievements in mathematical methods and their various engineering applications related to digital image processing. All the submissions are expected to have original ideas and new approaches. Review articles are also welcome. Potential topics include, but are not limited to:
- Statistical methods
- Neural computation
- Fuzzy set theory
- Support vector machines and kernel methods
- Independent component analysis
- Optimization and evolutionary algorithms
- Other mathematical methods, such as graph theory, manifold learning, and so forth, and applications related to digital image processing
- Visual tracking and surveillance
- Human-robot interaction
- Document image processing
- Visual inspection
- Biomedical sciences
- Neural imaging and analysis
- Remote sensing
- Mobile imaging
- Other interesting and promising domains
Before submission authors should carefully read over the journal’s Author Guidelines, which are located at http://www.hindawi.com/journals/mpe/guidelines/. Prospective authors should submit an electronic copy of their complete manuscript through the journal Manuscript Tracking System at http://mts.hindawi.com/submit/journals/mpe/mma/ according to the following timetable:
