Description

Solicitation of soft computing methods to solve complex problems in environmental modeling and sustainability has gained adequate attention due to the universal applicability, robustness, and intrinsic forbearance of uncertainty compared to the conventional methods. Soft computing allows the integration of data of diverse nature to provide empirical insights into multi-criteria problems and, hence, inspire adaptive techniques for environment management and sustainability of natural resources. Humans and other living organisms rely on natural resources for survival. The conservation of natural resources is imperative as the world population continues to grow, but most of the natural resources are finite and nonrenewable. There is a need to devise soft computing-based techniques for the sustainability of natural resources and environmental stability.

The aim of this Special Issue is to invite contributions from researchers and academicians to signify, forecast, and manage the behavior of environmental resources, including water, air, and land components and to convey those developments to a comprehensive scientific and professional audience.

Potential topics include but are not limited to the following:

  • Soft computing based efficient solutions for water management
  • Convergence of IoT, AI, and blockchain for sustainability of natural resources
  • Real-world applications or enhancements in state-of-the-art environmental models to deal with complex sustainability issues
  • Forecasting of air quality and pollution control using soft computing techniques
  • Advances in airborne pollution identification techniques
  • Resource management and optimal utilization of natural resources for soft computing applications
  • Soft computing for disaster management
  • Methods and models associated with the integrated modelling, management, and assessment of environmental systems
  • Smart ICT for sustainable development
  • Converged applications and design issues for soft computing for the environment
  • Development of an application, knowledge base or decision support system for the sustainability of natural resources
