Activation of Sphingosine 1-Phosphate Receptor 1 Enhances Hippocampus Neurogenesis in a Rat Model of Traumatic Brain Injury: An Involvement of MEK/Erk Signaling Pathway

Hippocampal sphingosine 1-phosphate receptor 1 (S1PR1) expression increased markedly after TBI. (a) The level of S1PR1 protein in hippocampus was detected by western blotting (WB) at 12 hours, 1, 3, 7, 14, 21, and 28 days after trauma. (b) Quantitative analysis indicated that upregulated expression of hippocampal S1PR1 occurred from 12 hours, peaked at 7 days, and remained at a relatively higher level for at least 28 days after TBI (, sham group; each time-point group of TBI). Further analysis revealed that there was a statistical difference between any two time-point groups after trauma. versus sham group; versus other time-point groups of TBI.
