Definition of temporal variability for a given region in the functional network. (a) The BOLD time series for 116 brain regions were extracted from AAL template. (b) All BOLD time series were segmented into nonoverlapping windows. Functional networks are constructed in each time window. (c) The temporal variability of the region is determined by comparing functional connectivity profile of the region at different windows.
