Apoptosis in muscle biopsies from UCMD patients before and after treatment with CsA. Biopsies from 5 patients with UCMD (P1–P3, P5, and P6) were scored for the presence of apoptotic nuclei with the TUNEL reaction as described in Section 2 before (open bars) and after 1 month (P1–P3) or 3 months (P5, P6) of oral treatment with 5 mg 7 kg CsA per day (filled bars).
