Preconditioning and Acute Effects of Flavonoids in Protecting Cardiomyocytes from Oxidative Cell Death

<table>Effects of 3-day pretreatment with sodium ascorbate (Asc) against ischemia-reperfusion-induced cell death in H9c2 cells. Confluent cells were maintained in DMEM with 2% FBS for 6 days including 3-day pretreatment with different concentrations of ascorbate, and then ischemia-reperfusion groups were exposed to ischemia and reperfusion. Ascorbate was also present during the reperfusion time. Cell viability was determined using a microscope after staining the cells with acridine orange.
