Panel (a) shows basal blood pressure (mmHg) and Panel (b) shows the effect of HO inhibition by tin protoporphyrin IX (SnPP: 30.0 mg/kg, pretreatment 24 hours and one hour prior to the measurement) on the increase in arterial blood pressure after administration of arginine vasopressin (AVP; 0.02, 0.06, 0.18 μg/kg) in male (the black square) and female (the grey square) rats measurement. Results are shown as means ± S.E.M. for 10 animals in each group. Statistical significance: as compared to the ovary intact group and a significant difference between groups with and without SnPP pretreatment.
