Effects of Nrf2 knockout on Dox-induced myocardial necrosis, oxidative stress, and autophagic clearance. Male 10–12 wk old littermates of WT and Nrf2^−/− mice were treated with Dox as in Figure 1 for 4 days and then the hearts (𝑛=3 for each group) were harvested for (a) Evans blue and 8-OHdG staining and (b) Western blot analysis of LC3, p62, and polyubiquitinated proteins (Ub-proteins) in soluble and insoluble fractions. ^∗𝑃<0.05 versus WT control in (a); ^∗𝑃<0.05 versus Dox (−) control in the same experimental group.
