The Hydrogen Sulfide Donor NaHS Delays Programmed Cell Death in Barley Aleurone Layers by Acting as an Antioxidant

Effects of H2S on the expression of HvSOD1, HvCAT1, HvCAT2, HvLOX, cystatin (HvICY), and the cysteine proteases HvCP3-31 and HvEPA in barley aleurone layers. Aleurone layers are incubated in NaHS (T) or water (C) and total RNA is obtained at 0, 1, and 5 d. Means and SD values are calculated from three independent experiments. Within each identified gene, bars with different letters are significantly different in comparison with the corresponding control at according to Fisher’s least significant differences (LSD).
