Intracellular and Intercellular Signalling Mechanisms following DNA Damage Are Modulated By PINK1

PINK1 loss of function enhances cellular sensitivity to DNA damage induced by X-rays. X-ray irradiation induces the accumulation of DNA damage measured as MN (a, b) and γH2AX/53BP1 foci (c, d) in MEFs (a, c) and SH-SY5Y (b, d). PINK1-KO MEFs and PINK1-KD SH-SY5Y cells present higher sensitivity in the accumulation of both types of DNA damages with the MEFs being more radiosensitive than SH-SY5Y. Each data point represents the mean ± SEM of at least three independent experiments. Statistical analysis is performed with two-way ANOVA with multiple comparisons, and values are indicated in the figure. , , and .
