Mild heat treatment promotes mitochondrial remodeling in a treatment time-dependent manner. Myoblasts were differentiated in DMEM supplemented with 2% horse serum under specified temperature condition. (a) The gene expressions of positive regulators (Pgc-1α, Nrf1, and Tfam) and a negative regulator (Ncor1) of mitochondrial biogenesis were quantified. (b) The gene expressions of mitochondrial fusion (Mfn1 and Opa1) and fission (Drp1 and Fis1) were quantified. Each experiment was performed with at least four separate cell cultures. Bar graph represented means ± SEM. The data were analyzed using one-way ANOVA followed by Tukey’s post hoc test. versus NT (no treatment); versus IHT (intermittent heat treatment).
