Ganoderma Triterpenoids Exert Antiatherogenic Effects in Mice by Alleviating Disturbed Flow-Induced Oxidative Stress and Inflammation

Figure 5

GTs preserved the atheroprotective property of endothelial cells in the ligated artery. LCA and RCA tissue sections, collected 3 days after ligation from mice receiving Con (DMSO) or GT (300 mg/kg/day; s.c.) treatment immediately after ligation and daily for the remainder of waiting period, were immunostained for proatherogenic factors ET-1, vWF, or MCP-1 as indicated. (a) Arrowheads indicate the ET-1+ (green)/CD31+ (red) ECs. (b) Curved arrows indicate the vWF+ (red)/CD31+ (green) ECs. (c) Arrows indicate the MCP-1+ (red)/CD31+ (green) ECs. The percentages of the positive ECs are means ± SEM from 4 serial sections from each artery ( for each group). Statistical significance was calculated using two-way ANOVA and post hoc Tukey’s tests, , , . Yellow dashed lines delineate the internal elastic lamellae. Bar: 25 μm.
