Simvastatin Attenuates Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm Formation Favoured by Lack of Nrf2 Transcriptional Activity

Figure 2

Simvastatin delays AngII-induced abrupt blood pressure rise. Mice of both genotypes were divided into the following groups: (1) sham (saline; ), (2) angiotensin II (AngII group, or 14), (3) simvastatin+saline (Sim group, ), and (4) simvastatin+angiotensin II (Sim+AngII group, ). Simvastatin was administered daily for 7 consecutive days before osmotic pump placement and during AngII infusion for another 28 days. (a) Time course of changes in systolic blood pressure (SBP) in WT and Nrf2 tKO, presented as a change of day 0. (b) SBP at day 2, presented as a change of day 0. Three-way ANOVA and Tukey’s post hoc test. (c) SBP at day 2, presented as a change of day 0. Three-way ANOVA and Tukey’s post hoc test. , , and vs. saline; # and ## vs. AngII; $$$ vs. Sim.
