Organ/Tissue Conditioning and Oxidative Medicine In Organ Transplantation: Novel Therapeutic Strategies

Call for Papers

It is well known that oxidative stress and inflammatory events are associated with organ transplantation that includes complex cell signaling pathways acting on graft survival. These ones are firstly acting during static/dynamic organ preservation conditions (ischemic injury), and then new cell signaling pathways are promoted, contributing thus to the extension of the damage when the graft is revascularized after transplantation and the oxygen entry to the organ aggravate the extension of the graft damage (reperfusion injury).

This special issue deals with the conditioning/preservation strategies in organ transplantation when static and dynamic preservation are used with special emphasis on “oxidative medicine” and “regenerative medicine” approaches. In addition, surgical and pharmacological treatment and organ conditioning to increase graft survival in organ transplantation are also considered.

Articles of researchers and other disciplines are especially encouraged to be submitted to this special issue to present the latest research and developments in the state of the art on organ/tissue conditioning and maintenance for organ transplantation.

Potential topics include but are not limited to the following:

  • Oxidative stress and inflammation in organ transplantation
  • Protein degradation and mitochondrial dysfunction in organ transplantation: an approach to oxidative medicine
  • Prevention of apoptosis and autophagy in organ transplantation: a role for oxidative medicine
  • Antioxidant and anti-inflammatory strategies in organ transplantation
  • Organ and tissue conditioning strategies in transplantation
  • Oxidative medicine in transplantation using natural products and drugs
  • Novel conditioning strategies for preserving grafts in organ transplantation
  • Organ bioengineering and stem cell infusion and organ preservation
