Neuroprotective Properties of a Standardized Extract from Myracrodruon urundeuva Fr. All. (Aroeira-Do-Sertão), as Evaluated by a Parkinson’s Disease Model in Rats

Figure 1

Effects of the standardized extract from M. urundeuva (SEMU) on the apomorphine-induced rotational behavior, in a rat model of Parkinson’s disease. SEMU (5, 10, 20, and 40 mg/kg, p.o.) was administered, 1 h after the stereotaxic surgery (unilateral injection of 6-OHDA into the right striatum) and daily for 14 days. The animals were observed for 1 h, 30 min after the apomorphine injection (1 mg/kg, s.c.). The values are means ± SEM from 5 animals per group. (a) versus 6-OHDA and (b) versus SO (one-way ANOVA and Newman-Keuls as the post hoc test).
