MDCK cells were incubated overnight (16 h) in isotonic or hypertonic medium and in the absence (controls C) or presence of conditions that inhibit or downregulate protein kinase C activity. The latter impaired hypertonic upregulation of BGT1 transport but not ATA2 or TauT. *Significantly different (, ) compared to hypertonic controls.
