Basic and Translational Research in Pediatrics: Understanding the Pathophysiology and Discovering New Therapies

Call for Papers

Understanding the pathogenesis of pediatric disorders is part of a growing research field. Recently, exciting progress has been made in elucidating the pathophysiology and genetics of pediatric diseases. This is partly due to new and cutting-edge technologies now widely available. Despite this there remains a broad gap in our knowledge in pediatric diseases. Translation of the research findings from bench to bedside remains a major challenge to physicians and scientists in the pediatric research field.

We invite investigators to contribute original research articles as well as review articles that will stimulate the continuing efforts to understand the biology, pathology, molecular, and cellular mechanism of pediatric diseases, the development of strategies to diagnose and treat these conditions, and the evaluation of the outcomes. We are particularly interested in articles describing the following topics. Potential topics include, but are not limited to:

  • Recent developments in the pathophysiology underlying pediatric disorders
  • Advances in genetics and molecular biology of pediatric tumors and inflammatory disorders
  • Latest technologies for clinical evaluation and measuring outcomes
  • Pathogenesis and novel therapies for inflammation in specific organs, for example, the lungs, gastrointestinal, and the liver
  • Advanced animal models in the study of pediatric disorders
  • Translational research, or review articles in pediatric diseases

Before submission authors should carefully read over the journal's Author Guidelines, which are located at Prospective authors should submit an electronic copy of their complete manuscript through the journal Manuscript Tracking System at according to the following timetable:
