Diagnosis, Pathogenesis, and Management of Pain and Oral Inflammation

Call for Papers

Pain is one of the most frequent consultations at dental practices. This can be related to multiple causes causing difficulties with regard to the diagnosis and consequent management. Pain can be classified into acute or chronic from local or multiple dental causes or can be a consequence of a systemic, autoimmune, or inflammatory condition, for example, pain management of patients with Oral Lichen Planus or other vesiculobullous conditions when the oral condition is well controlled but the level of pain does not match the clinical presentation.

At present, we have enough therapeutic tools that allow us to treat acute pain and inflammation satisfactorily. However, chronic pain or osteomuscular pain continues to represent a challenge for its correct treatment, requiring a thorough clinical history and sometimes resorting to the use of drugs not normally used by a dentist.

We would like to invite researchers to present original research articles including observational studies, RCTs, systematic reviews, meta-analysis, or even series of cases that will improve our knowledge of the diagnosis, pathogenesis, and treatment of pain and oral inflammation.

Potential topics include but are not limited to the following:

  • Diagnostic criteria in oral pain (acute/chronic)
  • Management of dental pain
  • Management of burning mouth syndrome
  • Management of postoperative pain and inflammation
  • Management of oral mucosal pain
  • Management of temporomandibular joint pain
