Cleft Lip and Palate Treatment
Description
Cleft lip and palate are the facial deformity most well known since many years; one of their first descriptions of surgical treatment was done in China, in the Chin Dynasty (229-317 ad); from there to now, numerous descriptions of cleft lip repairs are found in the literature, freshening the cleft edges and suturing then together. In these last 10 years, worries about the final rehabilitation of these cleft patients and their relations with the society are the main concern, and many papers about the best techniques and the cares are much more interested. We invite authors to submit original and review articles about the treatment of cleft lip and palate. We are interested in articles that explore these topics. Potential topics include, but are not limited to:
- Genetics in cleft lip and palate: its role in prevention and treatment
- Evidence based on the treatment of cleft patients
- Elucidating the role of alveolar bone graft: the importance of bone substitutes
- Velopharyngeal incompetence: what is the future for Pharyngeal flaps and the apnea síndrome
- Time and technique: is there any evidence which is the best
- The role of humanitarian mission on the ideal comprehensive treatment
