Abstract

A model of particle behaviour under the influence of corona discharge is developed and the effect of particle conductivity on the separation process is outlined. The model can be used to calculate the minimum difference in conductivities of particles to be separated, as a function of particle size. The critical angular velocity of the rotor, the limiting particle size and the angle of separation can be derived.
