Abstract

An economical, inexpensive and compact magnetic filter with pulse magnetization and demagnetization of the filtering matrix, consuming no electric power throughout the process was constructed and its effectiveness was tested with micron–sized magnetite and Raney nickel catalyst. Complete filtration of + 1 μm particles was achieved at rate ≤ 150 m/h. The proposed filter can be of use in chemical industry for the recovery of micron–sized magnetic particles from various liquors.
