A Description and Examination of Fluorescence in Nine North American Firefly Species (Coleoptera: Lampyridae)

Dorsal and ventral fluorescence in Pyractomena linearis (a and b), Pyractomena dispersa (c and d), Pyractomena angulata (e and f), and Photuris versicolor (g and h). Specimens were photographed under white light, and under blue light using a yellow filter. Blue light was supplied by a NIGHTSEA Model SFA Royal Blue light emitting at 440–460 nm, using a NIGHTSEA yellow barrier filter to screen. Scale bar represents approx. 15 mm.
