Detection of Intranasally Delivered Bone Marrow-Derived Mesenchymal Stromal Cells in the Lesioned Mouse Brain: A Cautionary Report

Autofluorescence in the striatum of mice that received mechanical striatal lesions followed 3 weeks later by intranasal saline or MSC-EGFPs. Bright particulate fluorescence is observed at the termination of the lesion injector needle at 7 days after intranasal delivery of MSC-EGFPs (a, c, e) or saline (b, d, f). The number of structures and intensity of fluorescence is the same on the GFP and Texas Red bandpass filters (c′ and d′).
