Retinal Pigment Epithelium and Müller Progenitor Cell Interaction Increase Müller Progenitor Cell Expression of PDGFR𝛼 and Ability to Induce Proliferative Vitreoretinopathy in a Rabbit Model

Western blot of ARPE19, ARPE19𝛼, MIO-M1 MPCs, MIO-M1𝛼-transfected MPCs, and rabbit conjunctival fibroblast (RCF) lysates shows comparable expression of PDGFR𝛼 in transfected MPCs (MIO-M1𝛼) and RCFs, with levels comparable to those developed in cocultured cells. MIO-M1𝛼 MPCs have an approximate 2.56X increase in PGFR𝛼 expression when compared to untransfected MIO-M1 MPCs, and a 1.65X increase in expression when compared to RCFs.
