Study design. Schematic illustration of experiments performed to test the effects of growth factors released from gelatin hydrogel on neurogenesis in the SVZ. Effects of growth factors injected into normal (a) and injured brains 11 days after MCAO (b) with or without gelatin hydrogel on the number of new neurons in the SVZ and injured striatum, respectively, were compared 7 days after the injections.
