Developing a New Two-Step Protocol to Generate Functional Hepatocytes from Wharton’s Jelly-Derived Mesenchymal Stem Cells under Hypoxic Condition

<table>New method for hepatocyte-like cells generation from WJ-MSCs under hypoxic condition. This schematic figure represents two-step protocol for <i>in vitro</i> hepatogenic differentiation. In the first stage of induction, WJMSCs-SUT1 and WJMSCs-SUT2 were treated with the combination of HGF (20 ng/mL) + FGF-4 (10 ng/mL) + nicotinamide (5 mM) in DMEM serum-free medium for 7 days. To induce maturation, these cells were cultured in differentiation medium containing OSM (40 ng/mL) + ITS (20 <i>μ</i>L/mL) + dexamethasone (2 <i>μ</i>M) for a further 11 days.</table>
